
Channelside is a residential and entertainment district just east of Downtown Tampa, Florida, USA.Channelside is home to some of the most fresh and modern condominium developments in Tampa! Channelside condo's include The Towers of Channelside, Ventana, Grand Central, The Place, The Slade, Channelside Lofts and Victory Lofts! It is bordered by Ybor Channel on the east and Garrison Channel on the south. Notable attractions in this area include the Tampa Port Authority containing the Small Business Development Center at the University of South Florida, Florida Aquarium, American Victory Museum, and Channelside Bay Plaza for the nightlife and dining. Several official Super Bowl XLIII parties featuring celebrity appearances were held in the district. The center of the Bay Plaza has a large open court for live music, with views of the downtown skyline, cruise ships and the Port of Tampa. It also houses Tampa's only IMAX theater.
The NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning play their games at the St. Pete Times Forum located here. Additionally, the Forum hosts concerts and other events. In 2008 it hosted the NCAA Women's Final Four.[2] The Tampa Convention Center is also located right next to the district to the west.
Recently, a boom of construction on high rise condos and mixed-use skyscrapers along the Channel aims to transform the entire downtown area. Twin 30-story upscale condos Towers of Channelside were completed in 2007. More shopping is also coming to the area, along with an urban park.The TECO Streetcar has several stops in the district making walking to area attractions a piece of cake.
